Sockeyes dominate St. Malo Warriors 9-1

          VS.

Richmond has started off the 2013 Keystone extremely well as they defeated the Host St. Malo Warriors by a 9-1 score to extend their consecutive winning streak to 11 games and move to 2-0 in the Keystone Cup.

Daniell Lange and Rudi Thorsteinson feasted off the hometown Warriors each scoring three goals and adding a helper in the 9-1 win. This was a big victory for Richmond as they are now the only undefeated team in the tournament of six teams.

The game started off very quickly with Thorsteinson scoring just 43 seconds in and they never looked back. Justin Goritz, the goaltender for St. Malo had an absolutely incredible game making 63 saves on 72 shots. He may have let in nine goals but the score would have been much higher without him in net making some huge saves all game long.

Daniell Lange ended up with the player of the game for the Richmond Sockeyes scoring four points and getting the hat-trick, he seemed to score with ease.

William Latimer suited up in goal for Richmond, making 15 of 16 saves for the win. A scary scene occured in the second period as he took a skate to the head, but he shook it off and continued to play the rest of the game.

Richmond will now play the Saskatoon Royals who are 2-0-1 in the tournament later today. Richmond hopes to get their third win of the tourney and remain undefeated.

Also today the Saskatoon Royals tied the Okotoks Bisons 1-1 in the eary game. Later today the Peguis Juniors play the Thunder Bay Northern Hawks and the Okotoks Bisons play the St. Malo Warriors.
