Sockeyes dominate Saskatoon Royals 10-2

          VS.

For the second straight game the Richmond Sockeyes destroyed their opponent beating them by a 8 goal margin. Earlier today they defeated the St. Malo Warriors 9-1, and this afternoon beat the Saskatoon Royals 10-2.

Despite going down 1-0 early in the first period when Hayden Cameron deflected a Shane Pickett shot past Kootenay Alder, the Sockeyes would never let up tying the game just over two minutes later. In a five minute and thirty-nine second span Richmond would score three goals for a 3-1 lead to finish the period. Goals came from Stephen Campbell, Rudi Thorsteinson and Dean Allison. Richmond dominated the period offensively outshooting the Royals 20-5 through 20 minutes of play.

The Sockeyes blew the game wide open in the second period, scoring six goal for a 9-1 lead. Jake Roder had two goals,Stephen Campbell added his second of the game and Jeremy Hamaguchi, Scott Wessa and Dominic Centis added the other goals. Scott Wessa had one of his best point shots of the year as he put the hammer down and boomed a shot top shelf and under the bar for his fiirst goal of the tournament.

The third period was a pretty chippy affair with both teams getting into lots of penalty trouble and scoring 1 goal a piece. Stephen Campbell added another one and Dylan Johner made it a 10-2 score. That would be all he scoring in this one as the Sockeyes now move to first place in the Keystone Cup through the first two days with a 3-0 record.

The Sockeyes so-called grinder line of Austin Adamson, Stephen Campbell and Justin White had an amazing game, not only controlling the play and puck but also getting in on the scoreboard three times with Stephen Campbell getting the hat trick.

The Sockeyes are now playing incredible strong and are well adjusted to the St. Malo Ice surface. Over the two games today the Sockeyes have outshot their opponents 112-42. The players of the game for this one were Jake Roder for Richmond and Maury Reuther for Saskatoon. Roder had two goals and two assists.

Richmond now only has two games remaining and it is not long until their next game tomorrow as they will wake up bright and early to play at 7 AM pacific time and 9 AM Central time against the Ontario Representative Thunder Bay Northern Hawks(TBJBHL, Ontario) and then a long break until the nightcap game at 6 PM Pacific time, 8 PM Central time against the Manitoba Representative Peguis Juniors(KJHL, Manitoba).
