Sockeyes end first round in five games (Sockeyes win series 4-1)

                                        VS.

The Richmond Sockeyes shutout the North Vancouver Wolf Pack 3-0 in game five to win the Tom Shaw semi0final series four games to one. Kootenay Alder stopped all the shots and Ryan Cooper got the game winner in the second period as Richmond now awaits the winner of the North Delta Devils/Delta Ice Hawks series.

The first period didn't produce much in the way of offence as the visiting North Van Wolf Pack outshot Richmond 11-6. Alder was vital in stopping the early shots. Richmond was 0 for 1 on the power play and didn't register a shot on goal on the man advantage.

The second period started off well for Richmond as they score a power play goal with Stephen Bell and Christian Stephenson in the box for a 5 on 3. Ryan Coppers shot was deflected in front and into the net for the 1-0 lead, Shortly thereafter Cooper would get another point, assisting on Michael Ball's goal for a 2-0 lead.

The possible goal of the year came as the Sockeyes were finishing a penalty kill, Dean Allison came out of the box and dropped the puck off to a streaking Kyzen Loo. Loo danced around two defenders and Wolf Pack goalie Jordan Liem to entend the lead to three goals.

The game started to get very chippy with numerous penalties being dished out. Richmond would eventually go on to win 3-0 with Kootenay Alder picking up the shutout in net.

Richmond now waits for the Delta/North Delta series to finish to see who they will play, Richmond makes its fourth consecutive Tom Shaw Conference Finals appearance.

If the Sockeyes play North Delta the series will start Saturday at the Sungod Arena in North Delta, if they play the Ice Hawks game one will be at Minoru Arena on Saturday as well.
